DJ Phingaz was born in Orangeburg, SC. Because of economic issues his mom raised him and three other siblings in a two bedroom house on Buckley St. in Orangeburg located about 25 yards from the campus of SCSU. Life struggles were real and mom and fam were barely making ends meet but was done by the faith in the man above. He hardly ever was able to have new shoes and clothes for school. A food stamp a day was allowance given to him in middle school years and that did not include saturday and sunday. Well that just a short version, personal but just to get people to realize that STRUGGLE IS WHAT MAKES A MAN KEEP PUSHING NON-STOP TO THE TOP!!! In and about the year 1987, he began to really listen to music. Listening to ROB BASE, LL COOL, SALT N PEPA, MICHAEL JACKSON, etc., he began to right rhymes. Later when listening and beginning to really get into the sounds of DIGITAL UNDERGROUND and TLC he was then getting deep into hip-hop and at the same time looking up to his cousin DISCO KID, a DJ from Orangeburg but now residing in St. Matthews, he started collecting CDs and recording mixtapes from the BIG DM 101 FM. Faced with a household without a father being around often and little of anything, he concentrated on his lyrics and music. Phingaz joined the ARMY NATIONAL GUARD in July 1995, right after graduating high school. While waiting for his Basic Training in May 1996 he started attending SCSU and Marching w/ the SCSU MARCHING 101 BAND. While at basic training he was pulled away from writing rhymes because of the short free time. In Fall 1997 he sat out for two semesters at SCSU to work and try to get the rhyming on the run. Unfortunatley everything was brought to a halt in August 1998 while on two weeks trainign with the National Guard. He and a Sargeant was on a mission and back to the field when they were involved in a collision with a fully loaded log truck. He was forced to quit his only other job MCDONALD's because of severe back problems and legal issues. In November 1999, because of his knowledge in hiphop and teens, he was asked to be the house DJ at Jammers Skate-N-Fun Center in Orangeburg. a couple months later he was blessed with some Benjamins and went to get his Turntables. having almost no idea of where to start from he began practicing in friends crib. He started out as doing two KAPPA KAPPA PSI probate shows @ Claflin University & South Carolina State University. Didn't happen over night but eventually after patiently waiting for a few years he has grown to be one of the best DJs in South Carolina. He has opened shows for Trillville, Cee-lo, Carl thomas, Raheem the Dream, Bruce Bruce, just to name a few. He is now willing to travel anywhere. His main goal is to either be on TV DEE-JAYING or on a movie playing some type of good acting role. DJ PHINGAZ HAS TRAINED: DJ AARIES(ATL) DJ N-ER-JIZER(SC) LIST STILL GROWING!!!!
