Shuichi finally made it out of the hospital this afternoon, and is with us at home now.

He's a hungry, sleepy kid, and that's great. Feeding him and holding him is such a joy!! Babies really are amazing.

Will put up more pics and videos soon.

The founder of our university, Daisaku Ikeda, named our son, Shuichi.

The word "shu" means excellent or talented.
The word "ichi" is taken from my name meaning "one" or "number 1"

So, together his name means, "excellence first".

He also has a nickname: Nito

There is a famous Japanese person name Nitobe Inazo, who was a pioneer to bridge the gaps across cultures and races. You can read a quick overview about his life in Wikipedia:

Hey everybody,

This is my first blog entry, and it's to share some great news!!!

My son was born yesterday afternoon, May 26, at 12:45 pm.

He was born 3150g (almost 7 lbs.)

It took about 17 hours to deliver him. So yesterday, I was a very sleepy but very happy dad.

I haven't gotten any pictures of him yet, but I will take some today.

The mom and baby are both doing great!!
